What is a comprehensive annual physical exam?

A comprehensive physical exam is a once-a-year routine screening done for a general health check. Even if you feel healthy, an annual physical examination should be one of your priorities.

What an annual physical exam consists of?

Annual physicals include thorough examinations of all body systems, including: the skin, cardiovascular system (heart), respiratory system (lungs), nervous system, muscular system, abdominal organs, and lymph nodes. The physical exam can be followed with appropriate laboratory tests.

Basic blood work can include: complete blood count, a comprehensive metabolic panel (electrolytes, kidney function, blood glucose, cholesterol, thyroid function, and triglycerides), and a routine complete sexually transmitted (STD) test that contains: HIV, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes, and Hepatitis B & C. Our comprehensive physical examinations are extensive and thorough, but they will be individualized according to gender, age, and specific needs.

What should I expect during my visit?

During your appointment our doctor will review in detail the following: your past and present medical, family, and surgical history, any medication, herbs, or supplements you take or have taken, and review your immunization record to make sure you are up to date with your vaccines. It will be followed with a head-to-toe physical exam. Once the physical examination is done, the doctor will decide which health screening tests- based on your age and medical history (blood work or urine test) -will be necessary.

Do you collect urine and blood at your center?

Yes, you can conveniently get them done at our clinic. All blood and urine samples are sent to a partnered laboratory for testing.

When are the results of the checkup available?

Results for the physical examination of all your body parts (heart, lungs, skin, eyes, ears, muscles, and lymph nodes) will be given to you by the doctor as they are examined, but you can expect your blood or urine test results to be back in 3-5 business days.

Does your center accept medical insurance?

Yes, annual physical exams are the cornerstone of preventative medicine; therefore the majority of insurances cover such medical checkups at regular intervals (mostly once a year). At the Physical Exam Center we take most major insurances including, but not limited to the following: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Oxford, AETNA, United Healthcare, Guardian, GHI, Healthnet, Great West, Cigna, MagnaCare, Atlantis, 1199, POMCO, First Health, Coventry Health, MVP, etc. If you don’t see your insurance listed, please contact our physical exam clinic’s staff for further help.

How much is a health screening if I have no insurance?

Since we consider annual physical examinations to be a crucial part of any patient’s health, we strive to offer you our medical services at the lowest cost possible. Our exam and laboratory test prices are one of the lowest you can find in all New York City. A physical exam will cost $150 and if blood or urine tests are required, there will be an additional nominal fee. We guarantee you that you will never be surprised by any hidden fee or charge at our office.

How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment?

We offer same day physical examination. One of the best things that we offer in addition to high quality medical care are extended and flexible hours of operation- evening hours and Saturdays. You can schedule an appointment at your convenience either by phone or through our automated web check in system.

Take control of your health and life with an annual medical checkup at the Physical Exam Center of New York.
